The Gulu Criminal Investigations Directorate (CID), in collaboration with the Directorate of Crime Intelligence (DCI), has taken legal action against Mubarak Iguma, aged 33, for impersonation and fraudulent activities.
Iguma, posing as a member of the MK Movement, allegedly deceived and defrauded more than 200 individuals in Elegu, along the border with South Sudan.
His victims primarily consisted of boda boda riders, taxi operators, market vendors, salon owners, and bar operators.
Iguma falsely promised them connections to Gen. Muhoozi Kaneirugaba (Gen. MK) in exchange for financial support.
It is important to note that Gen. Muhoozi currently serves as the Chief of Defense Forces (CDF) and Chairman of the Patriotic League of Uganda (PLU), having transformed from the MK Movement.

The Police spokesperson, Senior Commissioner of Police Fred Enanga, has confirmed that efforts are underway to apprehend Iguma’s accomplice, Abdul Karim Matovu, who is currently evading capture.
Senior Commissioner of Police, Fred Enanga, said that measures are being taken to locate another accomplice, Abdul Karim Matovu, who is currently on the run.
“Documents recovered on him, upon search, show he made false statements, while using the MK Movement Constitution and Membership Cards, which he issued to the victims, after them paying membership fees,” he added.
He proceeded to applaud the DCI, as well as CID Gulu, for their remarkable efforts.
He stated that the arrest acts as a significant warning to individuals involved in fraudulent activities and scams, who manipulate false identities and misrepresentations to deceive unsuspecting victims.The accused was formally charged before the Chief Magistrates Courts in Gulu.
