Vincent Ssekanjako, 40, and Florence Nakintu had a disagreement, prompting her (Nakintu) to leave their home with her three-year-old son Muwanguzi Muyige to stay with a friend at Temangalo trading centre.
The incident occurred on March 25, 2024, after Nakintu discovered that Ssekanjako had allegedly stolen a mobile phone, TV, and shs100,000= from their house, leading to a physical altercation.
The following day, on March 26, 2024, Ssekanjako, the step-father to the child, approached Nakintu and requested her to return home.
However, during the process, the suspect is said to have convinced the mother and went with his step-son to buy soda but disappeared with him.
Concerned, Nakintu raised an alarm around 10pm after waiting in vain for their return.
A search was conducted, and Muyige’s body was found in a room adjacent to their house.
The police spokesperson Fred Enanga revealed that the step-father had allegedly gravely struck Muyige on the head with a sharp object.
Enanga emphasized that the suspect, who is currently evading arrest, was involved in the kidnapping and murder of his step-son.
Law enforcement agencies in Kampala Metropolitan North and Wakiso Central Police Station are collaborating to apprehend the suspect, a casual worker in Temangalo village, for the alleged crime.
Enanga highlighted the importance of ensuring justice for vulnerable children in society and vowed to continue the manhunt until the suspect is captured.
