The Speaker of Parliament Anita Among has congratulated the Buganda Kingdom for their support in the economic development of the country.
“Am immensely honoured to pay this courtesy visit to the Royal Kingdom of Buganda and to be part of the Kabaka Royal Birthday Run, 2024” Among said.
Besides just registering for the Run, we are here to officially declare our support for the Kabaka Royal Birthday Run, 2024.
She led a delegation of members of Parliament accompanied by her Deputy Thomas Tayeebwa at Bulange for Kabaka’s run slate for 7 April 2 2024.
“During my birthday Katikiro sent me a letter with a message. Today the members of Parliament are to support the Kabaka run. And we shall expect you to deliver it to the Kabaka and being a twin mother of Tenywa and Waiswa they have also given me gifts to the Kabaka”. she said.
She added “As Parliament of Uganda, we identify with this year’s theme; “Men are stars in the fight against HIV/AIDS to save the Girl Child”.
We are cognizant of the effect of HIV/AIDS on our population and we welcome the effort of the Buganda Kingdom in complementing the Government’s effort in combating HIV/AIDS, she noted.
The support we are making will certainly contribute to the UNAIDS target of eliminating HIV/AIDS as a public health threat by 2030 and the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) that have a common cross-cutting health theme, she added.
“May the unity exhibited here today be the spirit of confronting Uganda’s common challenges and paving way for sustainable growth and development. We want to take this opportunity to encourage all Members of the Public to register and participate in this run so as to support the noble cause.
We thank Katikiro for the good role he carried out and asked the MPs to get convictions of their Constituencies because Uganda may be bigger for you, she explained.
She said “whatever little you can do for your people let do whatever we can do for humanity. Let us leave this world than what we found it”.
She thanked the Kingdom for receiving them in a very special way and promised to support the Kingdom unconditionally. She alluded that those interested in auditing what they give out that is their own business.
