President Yoweri Museveni has cautioned national patriotism coordinators against reckless lifestyles if they’re to make meaningful contributions to their country.

“As a Patriot you should endeavor to take care of yourself by maintaining a healthy lifestyle. This helps you to develop your full potential in order to make a meaningful contribution to your Country,” Museveni said.

President also urged the Patriotism Coordinators to abstain from reckless habits like alcoholism, substance abuse, and sexual promiscuity.

He made the remarks in a statement read for him by the Vice President Maj. (Rtd) Jessica Alupo during the pass-out of 170 national patriotism regional, cities and district coordinators at the Oliver Tambo Leadership School at Kaweweta in Nakaseke district.

He emphasized that the above habits are very harmful and can ruin lives of patriotism coordinators across the country.

""

He continued to urge the patriots to be ambassadors of the NRM’s message on wealth creation.

“Our message, regarding the socio-economic transformation of Uganda, is that there are four sectors in the economy, where individuals, families and companies, can create jobs and wealth, to guarantee their prosperity,” he said.

The four sectors are: commercial agriculture, services, industries and ICT.

He noted that through the wealth creation funds and campaigns, the NRM government has been mobilizing the people of Uganda, to select profitable enterprises, in any of the above four sectors.

Hellen Seku, the commissioner for National Secretariat for Patriotism chats with vice president Jessica Alupo during the passing out National patriotism coordinators at Oliver Tambo Leadership School Nakaseke District

The president said the government has put in place the necessary conditions to ensure the profitability of the enterprises i.e., the good roads, electricity, peace and security; integration of the Ugandan market to the regional, African and international markets; pursuing policies that favour the private sector.

However, these economic advantages, that the NRM has created, must be translated into jobs and wealth for the households, in order for this development to be meaningful.

The Parish Development Model and the wealth funds, are aimed at increasing the number of wealth creators engaged in production, in the four sectors of: commercial agriculture, industries, services and ICT.

""

He finally told the coordinators that as they talk about Patriotism (love for Uganda), they should also work for Pan-Africanism (love for Africa).

He emphasized that it is Pan-Africanism that can guarantee our prosperity and strategic security, on a larger scale.

The economic integration of Africa gives us access to the bigger African market of 1.2 billion people, hence supporting our efforts to expand the economy of Uganda.

He congratulated the National Patriotism Coordinators, for successfully completing the training at the Leadership School.

The training was aimed at exposing leaders to the core values and principles of revolutionary governance.

Commissioner for National Secretariat for Patriotism Hellen Seku said Patriotism training is key because it teaches you to prioritize your Country, above self.

It helps you to put national interests before the sectarian interests of your tribe, religions, and regions among others.

She said this explains why Patriotism is one of the core principles of the National Resistance Movement. You must love Uganda and also protect the environment, which surrounds you.

The Commandant of Oliver Tambo Leadership School thanked president Museveni for spearheading the introduction of patriotism clubs in the country.
