By eastafrican gazette<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n The on going vote tallying in the Rwanda’s presidential election, indicates that the incumbet President of Rwanda Paul Kagame is in an early lead.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n With more than 7 million votes counted so far, Kagame has garnered an impressive 99.15%, followed by Frank Habineza of Democratic Green Party (DGP), with 0.53%, while the independent candidate Philippe Mpayimana trails with 0.32 per cent.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Kagame is at the forefront of the RPF-Inkotanyi coalition.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Out of the tallied votes, Kagame garnered 7,099,810, votes Habineza (38,301) votes, while Mpayimana got (22,753) votes.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Although the official results will not be announced until July 27, the current statistics indicate that Kagame’s win is highly likely.<\/p>\n\n\n\n If these numbers hold true, Kagame will be granted another consecutive term of office, solidifying his role as the prominent political figure in Rwanda.<\/p>\n\n\n\n On July 15, 2024, the National Electoral Commission (NEC) announced a remarkable 98 percent voter turnout, highlighting the importance of the election to the people of Rwanda.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Oda Gasinzigwa, the Chairperson of the commission, stated that the electoral procedure took place in a secure and open environment for Rwandans residing overseas as well as those within the country.<\/p>\n\n\n\n \u201cAs of now, the votes that have been tallied in the elections of the president of the Republic are 78.94 per cent and these are the partial results,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Provisional results breakdown<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n Northern Pronvice<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n According to the New Times Rwanda<\/strong><\/em> a Government online publication, as of Monday, 1,151,970 votes were tallied in the Northern Province, out of the 1,480,558 registered voters.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Kagame got 99,65 per cent of the votes in Northern Province. Habineza got 0.27 per cent, while Mpayimana got 0.08 per cent of the votes.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Eastern Province<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n In Eastern Province, 1,766,799 votes were tallied, out of 2,246,371 registered voters.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Kagame garnered 99.3 per cent of the votes in the province. Habineza came second with 0.66 per cent and Mpayimana got 0.05 per cent.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Western Province<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n In Western Province, 1,607,932 votes were tallied on Monday out of 2,038,931 registered voters.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Kagame got 99.6 per cent of the votes. Mpayimana got 0.29 per cent while Habineza got 0.11 per cent.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Southern Province<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n In Southern Province, 1,615,265 votes were tallied on Monday, out of 2,055,930 registered voters.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Kagame garnered 98.6 per cent of the votes. Habineza got 0.73 per cent, while Mpayimana got 0.67 per cent.<\/p>\n\n\n\n City of Kigali<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n In the City of Kigali, Kagame got 98.59 per cent of the 978,223 votes tallied on Monday, out of 1,172,229 registered voters.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Habineza got 0.96 per cent while Mpayimana got 0.44 per cent.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Diaspora<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n In the votes cast by Rwandans in the diaspora, Kagame got 95.4 per cent of 40,675 votes tallied on Monday.
