Mabonga<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n Kampala <\/p>\n\n\n\n The government has implored community leaders to effectively mobilize Ghetto youths within their immediate jurisdictions to embrace the Presidential initiative on skilling the girl\/boyprog child ram as a vehicle to combat household poverty.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n The call has been made by the minister for Kampala Metropolitan affairs Hajjati Minsa Kabanda while officiating at a products exhibition and skills showcasing ceremony for the Subway\u00a0Presidential initiative for skilling the girl\/boy child center at the civic ward in the Central division of\u00a0Kampala district.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Kabanda who declared her future political intentions to contest for the Kampala Central division parliamentary slot replacing outgoing incumbent Muhammad Nsereko said the presidents\u2019 strategic youth empowerment program should be supported by all Ghetto community leaders by way of mobilizing the youth to enroll for such courses as they grant them opportunities to become future self-employed people.<\/p>\n\n\n\n “We implore all our Ghetto community leaders to heed to the government’s call of mobilizing youths within their jurisdictions to enroll for these strategic skills empowerment programs as opposed to lamenting about white collar jobs which are scarce\u2019 observed the minister.<\/p>\n\n\n\n She commended the president for his visionary program which has enabled thousands of young people to enroll and access free special hands-on skilling programs which has turned many of them into responsible citizens creating their own jobs and fighting redundancy.<\/p>\n\n\n\n The state minister for youth and children in the ministry of gender labor and social development Balaam Baragahara on his part said the government was committed to ensuring that the Ghetto youth largely among communities are exposed to this program such that they are kept busy and away from indulging in criminal activities.<\/p>\n\n\n\n He pointed out that given the large numbers of students graduating from higher levels of educational institutions with many of them uncertain about their immediate job security opportunities, such skilling programs are the way forward which must be embraced by these new graduates.<\/p>\n\n\n\n The city RCC Hajjati Amina Lukanga\u00a0 \u00a0noted that the program was steadily economically empowering\u00a0thousands of youths to acquire lifelong hands on professional skills which would effectively turn them into responsible citizens who pay up taxes and contribute towards the national development agenda of their country.<\/p>\n\n\n\n She challenged the youth still trapped within the Ghetto communities to come out and take advantage of the free program which is a deliberate strategy to skill them to fight poverty as well as improving their individual income and livelihoods.<\/p>\n\n\n\n \u2018We implore those youths who are still trapped among the Ghetto communities to come forward and enroll for this free program which is the sole initiative of president Yoweri Kaguta Museveni such that they can access free economic empowerment hands on skills training opportunities’ observed Lukanga.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Dr. Faith Katana the director of the program said the program had so far achieved its intended milestone and objectives ever since its inception, stressing the need for her team to continue working with community leaders in ensuring that the youth especially the Ghetto population who are extremely vulnerable to poverty challenges benefit effectively.<\/p>\n\n\n\n The Subway Centre administrator Rhonah Kamahoro Natukundass said they have been able to enroll a total of 196 boys and girls acquiring skills in the general fields of professionalism while another batch of 125 are exclusively in the production department.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Natukunda thanked the state house leadership for the program which has benefitted many young people, a program that effectively engages the youth to graduate in becoming self-employed future wealthy citizens as well as the parents and guardians of their students for the support and the spirit of motivation which has pushed the youth into the program.<\/p>\n\n\n\n By Kitts D.
