The Uganda People’s Defence Forces (UPDF) has announced another new recruitment exrcise primarily targetig scientists in various fields between the age of 18-28.
According to a press release from Brig. Gen. Felix Kulayigye, the Director of Defense Public Information, dated June 19, 2024, the recruitment criteria will include individuals who have completed Uganda Advanced Certificate of Education (UACE) with a focus on science. These individuals must have obtained a principal pass in Chemistry, Physics, Mathematics, and Geography, along with subsidiary subjects.
Other encourages to apply are those who possess degrees or diplomas in sciece related fields including: Civil Engineering, Telephone Engineering, Automative Engineering, Computer Engieering, Computer Engineering, Aircraft Maintenance Engineering, Electronic Engineering, Cyber Security, Computer Forensics, Computer Science, Aero Space, Electricians, Painters, Specialised Fabricators, Carpenters, Heavy Engineering Equipment Operators, and Heavy Engineering Equipment Mechanics.
Kulayigye announced that applications will be conducted exclusively through the official UPDF website at www.updf.go.ug/careers . The application period will span 14 days, commencing from June 19th and concluding on July 3rd, 2024.
Emphasizing the importance of a thorough selection process, he mentioned that all applications will be carefully scrutinized and uploaded onto the website. Successful applicants will be notified between July 4th and July 10th, 2024.
Furthermore, Kulayigye informed that candidates who find their names on the website will be required to report to the Land Forces Headquarters in Bombo for a screening process on July 15th, 2024. This screening will encompass both medical assessments and physical fitness tests.
Kulayigye emphasized that all approved candidates are required to arrive at Bombo with their National Identity Cards, letters from the LCI and LCII chairpersons, Gombolola Internal Security Officer (GISO), and the District Internal Security Officer (DISO).
“No money is required in the process. Recruitment into UDF is free,” he noted.
