Celebrated Ugandan afro-soul musician Kenneth Mugabi has will be one of the cast members for the upcoming romantic comedy musical drama, titled “She Loves Me”.
Mugabi shared this exciting news during the launch event of the drama series, which is set to take place at the national theatre in July 2024.
This will mark his debut as an actor on stage, in addition to his role as a performer.
Mugabi expressed his enthusiasm for being a part of this project, which is being produced by Yenze Theatre Conservatoire, a theatre production company based in Bukoto, Kampala.
The She Loves Me romantic stage comedy will be presented through a special arrangement with Music Theatre International.
The production will consist of 11 shows, starting from July 11th, and will feature talented actors and actresses such as Aganza Kisaka, Simeon Lakuc Rugette, Andrew Amanyire, and Miriam Mwase, among others.
The storyline of She Loves Me revolves around the love story between two rival perfume clerks, Amalia Balash and Georg Nowack, who unknowingly fall in love with each other through anonymous romantic penpals.
The workplace rivalry between them escalates, resulting in a string of amusing misinterpretations and heartwarming discoveries, while their correspondence serves as a solace.
Aganza Kisaka, the show’s producer, views this production as a tribute to their three-year journey in the entertainment field, featuring former students from their theater courses.
“It’s a testament to the arts community we have built at Yenze Theatre conservatoire,” she said in a statement
The performances are scheduled to take place at the National Theatre on July 20, 21, 26, and 28, 2024.
