As the Muslim community continues celebrating Eid Adha , the Government has been called to consider the option of freeing all political prisoners as a gesture of good will to its citizens such that they can rejoin their families to participate in the economic development of their motherland.
The call was yesterday made by the secretary for dawa Greater Luwero office of the supreme Mufti sheikh Swaib Kanatta while preaching during Eid prayers at Masjid Madinah Bilal Bwaise Kawempe Division.
Eid Al-Adha is celebrated at the end of the Hajj or the annual Islamic pilgrimage to Mecca in Saudi Arabia
Muslims all over honor the willingness of Prophet Ibrahim to sacrifice his son as an act of obedience to God’s command. But, before Abraham could sacrifice his son, God provided a lamb to sacrifice instead.
In commemoration of this intervention, an animal is sacrificed and divided into three parts. One share is given to the poor and needy, another is kept for home, and the third is given to relatives.

He told hundreds of believers that it was the responsibility of the Government to ensure that all political prisoners are freed unconditionally such that they can return back to their respective communities and participate in the economic development programs for the general benefit of their families.
Sheikh Kanatta who doubles as the Masjid imam urged the entire Muslim community to cherish the spirit of peace, unity in diversity and hard work to overcome the burden of poverty saying lamenting to the government is not the solution to poverty eradication but hard work and self-determination was the way forward.
The main preacher of the day was Sheikh Umar Kezaala who advised parents to invest in the education of their children as well as instilling good morals that would help them to become responsible citizens of the future.
