Blankets and Wine, a leading music and cultural festival that embraces diversity, creativity, and community, has revealed a new collaboration with MTN MOMO for the upcoming 2024 season.

This partnership will bring cutting-edge digital solutions and smooth financial transactions to enhance the festival experience for attendees.

Blankets and Wine, known for its celebration of music, culture, and the arts, is set to benefit from the cutting-edge mobile money services of MTN MOMO.

Attendees can look forward to a cashless experience, ensuring fast and secure transactions for tickets, merchandise, food, and beverages. This partnership is aimed at enhancing the overall event experience, providing convenience and accessibility for all participants.

Marion Angom, the Head of Legal at MTN MOMO, expressed her enthusiasm for the collaboration with Blankets and Wine for this year’s season, welcoming MTN MoMo on board for the festival.

This partnership marks a significant advancement in improving the overall experience for attendees in Uganda.

Angom emphasized the commitment of Blankets and Wine to creating a seamless and enjoyable experience for all, with the partnership with MTN MoMo aligning perfectly with this goal.

The 2024 Blankets and Wine season will kick off on Sunday, June 30th, 2024, featuring a diverse lineup of artists such as Nameless from Kenya and Samthing Soweto from South Africa.

The event will also include unique cultural showcases and a variety of food and beverage options.

Racheal Magola from the Afrigo Band will lead the Homebased artists on the Onja Onja Stage, featuring a blend of dynamic DJ/producer performances.

Furthermore, the festival experience will be enhanced with the return of the family zone, offering kids’ activities and minders to ensure that everyone in the family can attend and enjoy a great time.

“With an unwavering commitment to excellence, Blankets and Wine invites attendees to Discover, Love, and Share an experience unlike any other, promising unforgettable moments at every turn. Get ready to elevate your festival experience to new heights,” explained Justine Mbugua the Head of Festivals, Blankets and Wine.

Blankets and Wine is a premier music and cultural festival that celebrates diversity, creativity, and community. Since its inception in Kampala in August 2012, Blankets & Wine has become a cornerstone of Kampala’s cultural scene, bringing together music lovers from all walks of life to enjoy an eclectic lineup of performances in a vibrant and inclusive atmosphere. With a commitment to showcasing the best of local and international talent, Blankets & Wine offers a unique platform for artists, musicians, and creatives to connect with audiences and share their passion for music and culture.

The music festival holds an undeniable love for urban African music and we aim to showcase urban African music such as afro jazz, afro-soul, and emerging genres of urban African music but also a new approach to live music to keep offering a laid-back, family-friendly and picnic-style approach to music.

MTN MoMo, with its innovative mobile money solutions, offers unparalleled convenience and security in financial transactions. By integrating MTN MoMo, we are making it easier than ever for our attendees to make cashless transactions, from purchasing tickets to buying food, drinks, as well as crafts and fashion from the vendors on-site. This not only increases efficiency but also enhances safety, as attendees can enjoy the event without the need to carry physical cash,” explains Justine Mbugua, Head of Festivals, Blankets & Wine.

The new partnership is aimed at creating a belief that the synergy between Blankets & Wine and MTN MoMo will set a new standard for event experiences in the region. Together, the two entities are committed to pushing boundaries and delivering a memorable, hassle-free experience for all the event.

The festival is widely recognized and admired because of its consistency within the region and has created an important platform for musicians across the East and Southern African region. We are running events in Kenya, Uganda and Rwanda, and planning to take this event across the continent.
