The Muslim medical student fraternity has received a reminder to consistently adhere to the professional ethical code of conduct while working in the field.
This reminder was given by Dr. Safina Museene, the commissioner of health education and training in the Ministry of Education and Sports.
She made the call during the handover ceremony of the Kibuli Muslim hospital health training school student guild council office, which took place on May 30, 2024, at Kibuli.
During the event, the outgoing guild president, Agenda Ssenyonjo, handed over the office to the incoming president, Abudallah Hood Lukanika.
The new team was urged to work diligently for the benefit of the student body and the school administration.

Museene, who had previously served as the founding principal of this school more than 19 years ago, expressed her satisfaction that the original policy standards, including the mandatory wearing of hijab for all female students and the adherence to strict Muslim religious teachings, are still being upheld.
This commitment, she said is a positive indication, considering that the school operates on a Muslim foundation.
She congratulated the outgoing team for a job well done and as well challenging the incoming to ensure they observe that they not only practice student leadership credentials based on the school legal framework, but learn how to become good leaders of the future given their medical training background.
She cautioned them to reflect and internalize the objectives for which they were elected into positions of responsibility by coming forward with solutions that can help bridge any challenges between the students and administration for the good of the school.
The commissioner said the government strongly appreciates the big role played by the Chief Executive Officer of the Kibuli Muslim hospital complex Dr. Mahmoud EL Gazzar Gaber for both technical and logistical support extended to the school which has effectively enabled the smooth growth of the school.
“On behalf of the government and the minister of education and sports Janet Kataha Museveni we wish to salute the leadership of Kibuli Muslim hospital led by its CEO Dr. Mahmoud El Gazzar Gaber with his executive board for the continuous support rendered to school which has strategically led to its outstanding growth and expansion,” she noted.

The school principal Hajati Halinah Mayanja thanked the support being given to her school by the government saying they are committed to ensuring that they train and send out highly specialized and disciplined medical students who are both God fearing and ready to save and preserve life through provision of high-quality medical care services to those in need.
The school started with the launch of the nursing and midwifery unit in 2005 before later adding on the school of medical laboratory technology in 2011 both training certificate and diploma respectively.
The whole journey stemmed from the establishment of the Kibuli Muslim hospital in 1984 which started as a small clinic offering outpatient services which later advanced into a nursing home with a 59-bed capacity facility.
Later as the numbers continued to grow, management decided that given the good feedback from the community lighting the high-quality services it rendered, they formally launched it as a fully operational hospital with 150 bed capacity in 1995 with a cumulative staff of over 220
