A high-level conference has commenced in Kampala to thoroughly examine the latest employment law reforms and trends impacting labour and employment relations in the country.
The third labour and employment law conference, centering around the theme “Adapting to the changing employment environment” attracted more than 150 attendees from a diverse range of stakeholders, such as the Judiciary, the Directorate of Public Prosecution (DPP), the Police, civil society organizations (NGOs), as well as various government ministries, departments, agencies (MDAs), and media representatives.
While opened the event, at the Mestil hotel Nsambya Acting Head Judge of the Industrial Court of Uganda, Lady Justice Linda Tumusiime called upon the stakeholders in the labour and employment sector to actively take advantage of this court to solve their outstanding legal disputes amicably despite having few justices.

Tumusiime commended the Human Resources Manager’s Association of Uganda (HRMAU) together with the Uganda Christian lawyers Association (UCLA) and Signum Advocates for putting together this important conference which is critical in addressing and seeking to advance the legal regime challenges encountered by the labour and employment movement.
She noted that the upcoming two-day conference was expected to produce robust and sound resolutions aimed at enhancing the sector by raising awareness and facilitating the exchange of knowledge among stakeholders for the benefit of all.
The stakeholders consist of HR professionals, both internal and external legal advisors, HR executives, labor officials, Chief Finance Officers (CFOs), entrepreneurs, and top-level managers, compliance officers, trustees, pension administrators, judges, risk management professionals, and others.
