The Kampala Metropolitan Police (KMP) has achieved another significant development by apprehending a third suspect in connection to the aggravated robbery case involving Tomson Mugisha, aged 40.
Derrick Mugisa, also known as Musota, was taken into custody on May 24, 2024, near Nakivubo Channel in the city center.
Mugisa is believed to be the perpetrator who delivered the kick that incapacitated Mugisha and proceeded to assault him until he lost consciousness.
Deputy KMP police spokesperson, Luke Owoyesigyire stated that the suspect has reportedly admitted to both the kicking incident and the robbery.
Mugisa is now the third individual to be arrested in relation to this incident, causing apprehension among many residents in the city.
Others include: Peter Senyonjo also known as Kakima, and Nuur Lweyama, also known as Mu TZ (Tanzania).
The trio has admitted to acting under the command of another individual, for whom efforts are intensifying to bring to justice.

A surveillance video which went viral captured the moment when a man with a backpack was ambushed by a gang of criminals who trailed him while walking innocently.
During the assault, one of the perpetrators kicked him in the neck, causing him to collapse on the ground while another snatched his bag and fled with the rest of the group.
The distressing incident took place on Ben Kiwakuka Street at around 8pm on May 22nd, 2024, with onlookers unable to intervene.
Additionally, a boda boda rider who stopped to witness the scene was also struck forcefully by one of the criminals before managing to escape.
Owoyegyire, noted that the police confirmed the theft of Uganda shs450,000/=, a bag with crucial documents, keys, and a container from the victim.
He emphasized that the Central Police Station in Kampala has initiated investigations into this incident, leading to the identification of three suspects.
“We are actively working to trace and apprehend all individuals involved and ensure they are brought to justice,” he noted.
The suspects will be processed and presented in court as soon as investigations are complete.
Owoyesigyire emphasized the importance of the public being alert and aware of their environment.
“If you witness any suspicious activities, please do not hesitate to make an alarm or notify the police immediately. Public cooperation is essential in preventing such incidents and ensuring community safety,” he added.
