Kingi Narvas Veran, the self-proclaimed Jesus Christ of this era, and one of his devoted followers have been incarcerated.
The incident occurred in Luyima Village, Luwero district, when they refused to cooperate with the ongoing census.
Isma Mubiru, the enumerator, approached them, but they adamantly claimed to belong to a different realm and insisted that they had already been accounted there.
Consequently, the police apprehended them for impeding the national census operation in 2024, following the enumerator’s report.
Subsequently, on May 15, 2024, they appeared before Grade I Magistrate Christopher Tindyeebwa Adyeeri in Luwero, who ordered their detention in Butuntumula Prison until May 29, when their next hearing will take place.
The individuals are being accused of impeding a lawful obligation, specifically the National Census, as stated in Section 28 Sub section 3 of the Uganda Bureau of Statistics Act (Chapter 3).
The prosecution claims that these two individuals refused to provide any details to the census enumerator, prompting the enumerator to notify the police, resulting in their apprehension.
Due to their admission of guilt, bail was denied to the two individuals.
