The Sindh community Uganda in conjunction with the Indian Association Uganda have held fundraising drive for their charity projects.

The colorful function held on May 11 2024 at Lugogo based Millennium Park was attended by over 2,000 Asians resident in Uganda, graced by the minister of Works and Transport, Gen. Katumba Wamala and State minister for Youth and Children Affairs, Dr.Balaam Baragahare, among others.
Present were also top Indian business magnet communities grouped under the Indian Association Uganda, Indian Business forum Uganda and Indian women business community among others which event was treated to high class pure classical traditional entertainment by several guest performers from India who thrilled the huge audience.
The chief guest of the day was the Indian high commissioner to Uganda HE Upender Sing who commended President Yoweri Museveni for creating a conducive environment which has enabled thousands of Indians to freely join the work spaces of Uganda and be part of those contributing to the country’s economic development agenda through paying taxes.
He pointed out that the event was to help raise funds from the Indian community to support charity works in the country, especially vulnerable children.

The minister of works and transport Gen.Katumba Wamala told the crowd that he requested the Indian community to support him in seeking lasting solutions to the escalating careless loss of human life on the road.
He expressed deep concern how the bad road Network was claiming thousands of innocent lives annually saying he would formally ask the Indian community through official government protocol to see how they can join him in working out possible modalities of sorting out the road carnage mess.
‘Am always concerned about the traffic system of your country India’s capital New Delhi which is much larger and bigger compared to our dusty Kampala and I wonder how we can jointly work together in terms of India offering advisory services on how to effectively reduce or eliminate the road carnage on our roads which claim many lives each year’ lamented Katumba.

The state minister for youth and children affairs in the ministry of gender labor and social development Dr.Balaam Baragahara in his remarks thanked the Indian community for supporting the humanitarian cause of Ugandan vulnerable children at the Kampala school of the physically handicapped [KSPH] based at Mengo.
The minister also thanked the school director Joy Mwesigwa and team for keeping the school operational saying his ministry would work together with that ministry of education to ensure that the school has necessary logistics to keep running.

The chairman Indian Association Uganda Raju Sareen was optimistic that the good relationship between the two people of India and Uganda would go a long way in realizing the cordial fruits planted several decades ago for the common good of all.
Both the Sindhi community Uganda chairman Dev Anand and the community coordinator Indian Association Uganda Paresh Metha respectively said the gesture set by the Indian community shall continue such that the intended beneficiaries are given a new life.
