Christian married couples have been cautioned to desist from unreligious acts such as domestic violence and adultery as they unnecessarily breed breakups, misery and shame.
The Bishop of Namirembe Diocese Bishop Moses Banja made the call recently during a service for married couples at Namirembe Cathedral.
He was accompanied by his wife Rev. Canon Prof. Olivia Nassaka Banja
The theme was “The responsibility of a wife and husband to their family, work and church in relation to Romans 12:1-2 and John 15:16”.
The service was aimed at renewing the marriage vows of over 400 couples drawn from the Central region diocese.
The couples later went for an exclusive retreat discussing marriage related issues and how to effectively strengthen their relationships amidst the challenging times.

Bishop Banja and wife who were the host of the event, expressed concern at the escalating cases of marriage break ups among the Christian faith couples saying it was important that both the couples need to lead a violence free marriage by accepting to solve their outstanding differences in a Christian amicable way.
He cautioned young people never to rush into marriages but must ensure they have been counseled and prepared enough to face the marriage family union as adults.
Banja reminded the parents to play their roles of offering good parenting deeds which add value to their families.
He further cautioned that they need to sensitize their children about the realities of the modern world’s societal negative challenges such as homosexuality, alcoholism, drug addiction and HIV and Aids of which they must avoid at all costs.
He congratulated the couples that turned up for the event saying he was sure they have returned back home as changed couples who have acquired new skills of maneuvering the societal negative challenges.
