Nommo Gallery, the historical home of the visual artists of Uganda is to be relocated to another place

According to the Executive Director of the Uganda National Cultural Centre (UNCC), Francis Peter Ojede the Gallery will be relocated another place that will be determined by the ministry of gender, labour and social development
He made the revelation while touring the place with the new board members of the Uganda National Cultural Centre (UNCC) led by the board chairman Prof. Okaka Opio.
They toured the Gallery and the National Theatre on Tuesday 7th, May,2024

Hannington Bugingo, Lillian Mbabazi, Dr. Richard Komakech, Moses Ssali (singer Bebe Cool) and Juliana Naumo
Ojede said the cabinet of Uganda made the proposal and endorsed it because the presence of the Gallery near State House Lodge Nakasero had made it difficult for the public to access the area
“The cabinet proposed that the Gallery be relocated to another place that will be between 5 to 10 acres and the place shall be in an area that will be accessible by the general public,” he said

Established in 1964, this gallery is recognized as a part of the Uganda National Cultural Center (UNCC).
Located in the heart of Kampala city, the gallery showcases a wide range of artworks displayed through various mediums, such as paintings, sculptures, ceramics, and more. Both native artists and international artists contribute to the gallery’s artworks.
