On April 26 2024, school teams across the country arrived at Ndejje Secondary School in Luwero district for the Fresh Dairy National Balls games 2024 tournament.

The East African Gazette was at the scene to cover the events as they unfolded and was able to interview the games national chairman Okot P’ Bitek who welcomed the delegations to the 10-day games that shall run from 26th April to 5th May 2024 at Ndejje SS were Fresh Dairy has sponsored the girls football league.
He pointed out that a total of over 3,800 participants are set to compete accompanied by over 200 officials.
The disciplines include football for girls, Basketball girls, Rugby, Hockey boys and girls, Badminton boys and girls, table tennis, lawn tennis while football for boys is being hosted in Masaka district and running concurrently.

He thanked the government and the ministry of education and sports for granting them an opportunity to handle such a very important activity on the country’s calendar because games have become a lucrative profession which makes its participants earn a hefty income.
‘We wish to thank the first lady and minister of Education and Sports Hon. Janet KatahaMuseveni with the entire government system for granting us such an opportunity where we bring together students from across the country to participate in sports and games competitions and as well as thanking both Luwero and Masaka districts for hosting these games’ noted Bitek.

He saluted the school management boards for the funding gesture for the activity as well as the coaches who have done a tremendous job of preparing and coming with the teams on the ground.
He commended the Uganda Secondary Schools Sports Association [USSSA] executive body for the support saying they will work as a team to ensure that the games are conducted in a more professional way that suits the internationally acceptable standards.
