The road segment that had been closed since last week between Kyengera and Budo junction has now been reopened by the Uganda National Road Authority (UNRA).
As per Allan Ssempebwa, the spokesperson for UNRA, the part is currently fully accessible to vehicles.
There is no requirement for drivers from Masaka and Kampala to utilize any other detours.
Allan Ssempebwa K. @assempebwa posted on his official X profile, formerly Twitter: “Kiwedde! The Kampala—Masaka highway is currently completely accessible to traffic”.
Heavy rains forced part of the segment to sink, forcing motorists to find alternate routes to and from Masaka.
For the previous three days, drivers have been able to access the Kampala-Masaka highway Highway through Nakawuka Road, Budo Junction, or Kitemu. Alternatively, they can use Mityana Road, which leads to Buloba-Nsangi.
Those from Masaka-Kampala were using Kitemu or Budo and Nakawuka to access Kampala.
