One person has been confirmed dead following a cement mixer truck that failed to break and crashed another vehicle in a traffic line on the Kampala-Entebbe highway.
The regrettable event occurred on April 18, 2024, at approximately 9:00 a.m.

The driver of the truck, registration number UAN 836B, appeared to have lost control and hit a center road barrier while attempting to avoid colliding with the Mistubishu vehicle, registration number UBQ 371P, that was in front of him, according to a CCTV video that has been making the rounds on social media.

But in the process, the truck flipped over and fell on the vehicle, purportedly killing its occupant instantaneously.
The occupant was identified as Raphael Okiot, a lawyer who also taught at Uganda Christian University’s (UCU) law school.

The deceased was also the spouse of Faith Irene Kwagala, a Kyenjojo Grade I Magistrate.
Despite suffering serious injuries, the truck driver managed to survive and was sent to a local medical institution for medication.
The police, assisted by special soldiers from Special Forces Command (SFC) managed to evacuated wreckages.
