Naguru
President of the Uganda People’s Congress (UPC) party, James Akena has said it has been a practice for different political parties to celebrate with Muslims brothers and sisters by aiding them with some contributions.

Akena said it is in this direction that the party came out to support Naguru Mosque with some food items.
On 8th April 2024, Akena paid a courtesy call to Muslim brothers and sisters at Naguru Mosque whose
foundation stone was laid by the late Adoko Nyekyon.
Akena was in the company of Secretary General Fred Ebil, Assistant Secretary General Ben Bakkabulindi Kigongo, Chief Administrative Secretary David Baliraine, President’s personal assistant Muramuzi Donald, Kampala Dist. Chairman Fahad Isabirye and Kalema Sulait.
He said with the little they had brought, they expect it to touch people’s lives as they go through the holy month of Ramadan.
“On the side of politics we have reached a level where a lot will be discussed and in terms of politics we are known as a party that has interest in the quality of life of the people” Akena explained.
“We are not happy where there is no quality of life for the people and where there is inclusiveness of equity for all” he noted.
He added that as a party, we are going to advocate for quality education and health standards in the entire country.
Akena was received by Deputy Imam of the Naguru Mosque Ahmed Rasak and Mosque Chairperson Abdullah Godo before he delivered a package of Iftar to members of the Islamic faith.
While interacting with the Muslims, the Akena applauded them for preaching peace and spirit of coexistence.

The Imam thanked the UPC for choosing Naguru Mosque out of the many Mosques in the city and appreciated the Iftar package.
The Deputy Imam of the Naguru Mosque Ahmed Rasak thanked
Akena for recognizing them with the donation of Iftar. He said UPC used to support Muslims of the area when they were still in power.
He informed the guests that Naguru Mosques were the right choice for Akena in terms of supporting Muslim who are going through the holy month Ramadan.
“There are many mosques in Uganda but selecting ours was really a privilege especially to be with the party president. And all the people are delighted to see you”. Rasak said.

Rasak added that many people were physically seeing him for the first time because most time they see him on
television and social media. He said UPC was a strong party that led the country to independence under the leadership of the late Milton Obote.
Its late Obote’s efforts that we are enjoying independence in
Uganda, the freedom we have in our country and we are proud to be with his son Akena.
