The Deputy Inspector General of Police (DIGP) has emphasized the importance of increased vigilance among all Ugandans during the long Easter Holiday.
Maj Gen. Katsigazi Tumusiime who is Acting Police Chief, highlighted the preparedness of the Uganda Police Force (UPF) and other security agencies to secure a peaceful holiday with minimal criminal activities.
He urged all Ugandans to promptly report any suspicious activities or sightings in their vicinity to the relevant authorities for appropriate action.
Furthermore, he cautioned against carrying large sums of money, particularly for business individuals, in order to avoid attracting potential thieves.
He also encouraged people to report any unusual or suspicious movements in their areas to the nearest police station.
Above all, he stressed the need to prioritize personal safety, remaining calm, and promptly report any suspicious incidents to the police.
“But above all, you need to keep safe, keep calm and report anything suspicious to the police. But we want to assure Ugandans that Uganda Police and other security agencies are working around the clock to ensure this Easter holiday is safe and secure for everybody. I wish all of you a good Easter holiday,” he noted.
All Christian denominations under the Uganda Joint Christian Council (Catholics, Anglicans, and Orthodox) will be celebrating the resurrection of Jesus Christ on Sunday.
According to the Bible, Jesus Christ died after cruxification on the cross and was buried on friday (sixth day of the week) and rose on Sunday, the first day of week.
