There was Joy and celebrations among the supporters of 64 years old Party Uganda People’s Congress (UPC) when Dokolo electoral district returning officer Erikwaine Ngobi declared Sarah Aguti, as the winner of the Dokolo Woman MP by-election.
Many supporters were seen dancing, others removing their shirt for the youth as they praise God for the miracles he did for their candidate to win the race
Speaking to the EAST African Gazette Reporter, George William Akena, a resident of Agwata Town council, Dokolo District, described the victory as the unity among the party members of UPC.
“Because of the unity of the party members, from the party President Jimmy Akena and grass root member, today we recorded the victory despite of the big force from other parties especially the ruling party NRM” Akena

Yesterday March 21, 2024 at around 10:42pm at the Dokolo district local government council hall, Aguti was declared winner of Dokolo Woman MP By-election securing the largest number of votes
Aguti won broadly with a margin of 23,044 votes in a tight race that attracted six contestants.
National Resistance Movement (NRM) Rose Janet Adongo was second with 14,001 votes and Rosemary Ogwal Alwoc, the daughter of late Cecilia Forum for Democratic Change (FDC) finished third in the race with 8,168 votes
Others were East Akullo Independent fourth with 790 votes, while Harriet Ageno of the National Unity Platform (NUP) fifth with 727 votes and Rebecca Arao Independent trailed in sixth place with 439 votes.
