The Secretary-General of National Resistance Movement party (NRM), Richard Todwong, has said the party membership register updates went smoothly across the country.
“I have monitored the display and updating of our membership register, and I can confidently declare that it has ended peacefully with a few concerns,” Todwong said.
The 5-day exercise was Sunday, 17th since it commenced Wednesday, 13th, in all 72,000 villages countrywide.
Todwong said the updated ‘Yellow Books’ would later undergo a thorough review at zonal centers before data is fed into the digital bank of the party.
In some areas where there was low turnout, Todwong said, “The party leadership shall review the process and offer guidance.”
He said other members, especially students currently in school, that there would be another opportunity for them to register in the holidays before they embark on preparing for internal elections.
He again thanked the NRM members and the general public for their participation, saying “this implies that NRM is still a very strong and popular party in the country.”
The NRM National Chairman and President, Yoweri Kaguta Museveni, launched the register update on February 28, 2024.
