The Islamic Republic of Iran, has embarked on continued opening up to the world with a target of over 350,000 students to study science in the Persian Gulf.
This was revealed by Dr. Zulfi Gol, the Minister of Science, Research and Technology during the Second National festival of Soraya Award held at Shahid Beheshti University in cooperation with the Ministry of Science, Research and Technology and the Student Affairs Organization in Tehran last week
According to Dr Gol, said Iran currently has over 1000 students from different continent but the country targets 350,000 international students to peruse science in different disciplines over the period of five years

He noted last year President Ebrahim Raisi visited three African countries, Kenya, Uganda and Zimbabwe, and signed different bilateral cooperation agreements including trade, scientific educational sectors and among others.
‘’ After the signing of the agreement Uganda managed to send over 70 students and we would like to appreciate Ahlul-Bayt International University for hosting those students’’ Dr Gol appreciated.
Dr. Zulfi Gol who was campaigned by Dr. Vahidi, the Interior Minister, Dr. Dadashpour, the deputy Minister of Science and Head of Student Affairs Organization, called upon Universities to treat the international students with care and make their lives easy at the university economically.

Soraya Award is an annual festival aim at examining and accessing the most important challenges of attracting non-Iranian students in universities and introducing the selected academics in the field of attracting international students

During the Soroya award, Ahl-Bayt International University emerged third and won the honor of the country’s chosen university in the National Soraya Festival and awarded the title of the best website for attracting international students amidst the presence of Dr. Saeed Jazzari, the president of Ahl-Bayt International University (A.S.), Tehran University emerged the winner of Soroya award in attracting International student in field of medical science and technology.

Others were Shahid Beheshti University of Tehran, Tabriz University among others.
Statistics
Although the Islamic Republic of Iran is sanctioned for over 45 years and more, the country’s recorded achievement in terms of Science and Technology is progressive, according to the statistics by Scopus 2022.Iran ranked 15 globally in the science production for the four consecutive years, making it the first country in the region in terms of numbers in scientific publication. China leads the globe with 1,016,311 out of 3,950,305 works according to Scopus, United States, India, England, and Germany also in second and fifth place.

The survey indicates that Tehran University of medical science has the largest shares in Iran’s scientific publications publishing more than 6,800 works. A total of nearly half of Iran’s scientific publication in 2022 have been published by 10 universities in the country.
The colorful function attracted different dignitaries Including Dr. Haddad Adel, the President of Saadi Foundation, Hojatul Islam Walmuslimin Rostami, representative of the supreme leadership in universities, deputy ministers of other ministries, ambassadors and cultural advisors, as well as presidents and international directors of universities.

Also Dr. Nasrollah Zadeh, President of Tabriz University, Dr. Saeid Shojaei, the director of Scientific and International Cooperation, Dr. Seyed Mahmoud Reza Qamiri , the President of Shahid Beheshti University, Dr. Kanani, the public advisor of the Islamic Republic in France, Sheikh Al-Islami, Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs, Dr. Baghari Far, the deputy Minister of Health, Treatment and Medical Education catering attended the function.
Others were International students of different Countries including Uganda, Pakistan, Iraq, Nigeria, Syria, Japan, China, Thailand, Brazil, Indonesia, Russia, Iraq, among others.
