Lord Mayor Erias Lukwago, also Counsel to Mityana Municipality MP Hon. Francis Zaake, today appeared before Justice Tuhaise Percy Night of the Supreme Court, in a matter in which the Attorney General(AG) is appealing against the Constitution Court ruling that the rights of the Legislator were violated by the Speaker and Parliament when he was unconstitutionally removed as a Commissioner of Parliament.

In a pre-hearing session, the Supreme Court gave direction on how the matter shall proceed and instructed the parties to file in their written submissions by 14/03/2024 and a response by 28/03/24 for the AG and Hon.Zaake respectively.

Addressing the Press the Lord Mayor said the ruling of the Constitutional Court was not only a matter of Justice for Hon.Zaake but the protection of the sanctity of Parliament and the Constitution, especially the Bill of Rights and his expectation was that the AG would let the matter be, unfortunately he has appealed and Parliament continues in the same direction despite the indictment.
