The world is mourning the loss of Peter ‘Peetah’ Anthony Morgan, the lead singer of the much-admired reggae group Morgan Heritage, who died at the age of 46.
The family released a touching statement on social media, requesting privacy and thanking everyone for their kindness and support.

“It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of our beloved husband, father, son, brother, and lead singer of Morgan Heritage, Peter Anthony Morgan, who ascended on February 25th, 2024. May Jah guide us through this time with love,” the family’s statement read.
Numerous people, including the Prime Minister of Jamaica Andrew Holness, conveyed their sympathies on X, expressing profound sorrow over Morgan’s passing saying it is a major loss for both Jamaica and the reggae music scene.

Peter Morgan, also known as “Peetah,” hailed from a family with a strong musical background, as his father was the well-known Jamaican reggae musician Denroy Morgan.
In 1994, he founded Morgan Heritage with his siblings Una Morgan, Roy “Gramps” Morgan, Nakhamyah “Lukes” Morgan, and Memmalatel “Mr. Mojo” Morgan.

The group received praise from all over the world and was recognized with a Grammy Award for Best Reggae Album in 2016 for their album “Strictly Roots.”
The reggae music world will always remember Peter Morgan as a gifted vocalist and essential member of Morgan Heritage.
