According to the Police Annual Crime Report and Road Safety, a total of 228,074 cases were reported in 2023, compared to 231,653 cases registered in 2022.

This indicates a decrease in crime by 1.5%.
Among these cases, there were 12,924 related to economic and corruption, 10,741 involving children, 14,543 break-ins, 14,846 sex-related offenses, 29,884 assault cases, and 65,901 thefts.
The report also reveals that out of the total cases, 84,907 were taken to court, 94,535 are still under inquiry, 843 resulted in acquittals, 10,096 were dismissed due to lack of prosecution, 46,632 cases did not proceed, and 46,843 cases are still pending. Furthermore, the report highlights that 231,601 individuals were victims of crime.

Lastly, political, media offenses, and terrorism were the least reported crimes last year.
Traffic
The report also indicates that there was a 15.5% increase in common offences registered by the directorate of traffic and road safety country wide.
A total number of 528,025 common offences were registered including a total number 23,608 crashes, 4,179 fatal, 12,487 serious and 6942 minor.

In Fire Rescue Services, the report indicated that there was a 9% reduction of registered cases from 1,258 in 2022 to 1,144 in 2023.
A total number of 1144 fires were registered out of which 940 were major fires, 189 minor fires and 15 fictitious fires.
Out of the total cases reported to police, 84,907 cases were taken to courts of law.
