The Idaad and Thanawi Examination Board of Uganda (ITEBU) under Uganda Muslim Supreme Council (UMSC) has released the Idaad (‘O’ Level) and Thanawi (‘A’ Level) 2023 exam results with great improvement in students’ performance compared to previous academic year of 2023 according to Executive Director of ITEBU Sheikh Swaleh Lubanga.

Lubanga said there was a significant improvement in performance whereby in Idaad 2023 exams, 1706 students out of the 1883 who registered for the exams from 86 schools passed, While in Thanawi 595 out of 625 registered students from 40 schools passed. unlikely in 2020 only 388 passed.

He added that this year there were 15 new schools whose students registered for Idaad and only three new schools that registered for Thanawi raised the total number of registered students for both exams for the year 2023 to 2508.
The Secretary General for Uganda Muslim Supreme Council (UMSC), Hajji Abas Mukubya Ssekyanzi while officiating the exam release called upon Muslim school to register with UMSC for protection

Ssenkanzi called upon al Muslim examination bodies to unite for the purpose of quality control of the exams and recognition of the academic papers.
The Secretary for Education in UMSC, Juma Cucu said there is no reason for Muslims students struggle to study abroad since most of Islam courses are available in UMSC learning institutions
The best top five students in Idaad were Nyanzi Twahel of Uthman Bun Affan Quran in Bukyaye, Iganga district, Zimula Abdul Rashid, Mubiru Ibrahim, Tamale Daud and Mukasa Muslim all from Bilala Islamic School Bwaise. While the top five best in Thanawi were Rayan Amir Kajoba, Musuba Amir Mudathiru all from Ibun Hamis Islamic School Kigogwa in Wakiso district, Kayongo Abdurahim, Simbwa Mumtaz and Wwengo Asimah from Madins Islamic Secondary School respectively.

Ibun Hamis Islamic school topped the best five schools in Idaad followed by Madinah Islamic Secondary School, Tweed Islamic Secondary School, Umar B.A. Islamic High School and Namungona Salaf. In Thanawi, Ubun Hamis Islamic School and Madinah Islamic Secondary School again take the lead of best schools in performance followed by Bugembe Islamic, Abdul Rahman Bun Auf Islamic Institute and Nazigo Noor Islamic Secondary School among others.
