When discussing the most popular campaign songs in this country, one that immediately comes to mind is “Toka Kwa Barabara, Besigye Anayingia,” which loosely translates to “get out of the way, Besigye is entering.”

Originally composed for the Forum for Democratic Change (FDC) flag bearer and leader Col. Dr. Kizza Besigye, it quickly became a popular phrase on everyone’s lips.
The artist behind the song, Adam Mulwana, was not only a supporter of the FDC but also a diehard fan of Besigye.
This song, released during the 2016 general elections, not only propelled Mulwana’s music career but also allowed him to connect with influential individuals within the opposition political circles. At the time of his death, he was also a close friend to the National Unity Platform (NUP) party president Robert Kyagulanyi Ssentamu.

Unfortunately, just as Mulwana was beginning to reap the rewards of his hard work, his life was tragically cut short by a a prolonged illness.
On February 13, 2024, at the age of 36, Mulwana passed away while being rushed to the hospital in Seguku.
Following the announcement of his untimely death, many Ugandans, particularly politicians, took to social media to express their condolences.
In an interview, Dr. Besigye described Mulwana as an intelligent and creative individual who will always be remembered.
Through his official X account formerly twitter, the National NUP party leader, Ssentamu said the deceased was devoted to the struggle as ever, despite his ailing health.

BOBI WINE @HEBobiwine “I have received the very sad news of the passing of my friend, comrade Adam Mulwana, an artiste and political activist who dedicated his life to the cause for the freedom of Uganda. When I last interacted with him, he was as devoted to the struggle as ever, despite his ailing health. Such a pity he has passed on without seeing the kind of country he so much desired to live in. The best we can do for him is to accomplish the mission for which he sacrificed immensely. May his soul rest in eternal peace”.
