The police in Kampala Metropolitan Police East and Kira Division are currently on a manhunt for an individual who is believed to have committed a murder at a lodge and subsequently fled with the victim’s belongings.
The incident occurred at Silent Kireka Guest House in Kireka B zone, Kira Municipality on February 10, 2024, at approximately 7pm.
According to Fred Enanga, the police spokesperson, the suspect, who identified himself as Mike Bilinego, had booked a room for a short stay at the cost of sh5000 and was assigned room 2.
However, at around 11:00pm, when the lodge attendant went to check on the room, she discovered that it was open and decided to turn on the lights.
To her shock, she found a deceased woman lying with her face down on the bed, with blood coming out of her nose.
The male suspect was nowhere to be found, and the victim’s handbag was found empty.
Enanga told journalists at the weekly joint security briefing at the police headquarters in Nakawa division today February 12, 2024, that the police were immediately informed and swiftly responded to the crime scene, where they gathered statements and initiated an investigation.
The body was subsequently taken to the City Mortuary for a post-mortem examination.
In a related incident, the territorial police in Greater Masaka and Sembabule district are also investigating the murder of a sex worker named Mastulla Nabasirye, who was strangled to death in her newly rented room in downtown Sembabule town council.
The victim had recently relocated from Central ward, Lukaya town council in Kalungu district and had only been in the area for three days before the tragic incident occurred. Her naked body was discovered on her bed
