Gen. Muhoozi Kainerugaba, the first son, has been appointed as the chairperson of the new Patriotic League of Uganda (PLU) formerly the MK Movement.
The leadership team also comprises Balaam Barugahara as the Vice Chairman of the Western Region, Michael Nuwagira Toyota as a CC member, Frank Gashumba as the Vice Chairman of the Central Region, and Andrew Mwenda as the Spokesperson, with David Kabanda as his deputy.
Additionally, there are Michael Katungi as the Commissioner of External Relations, Michael Mawanda as a CC member, Lillian Aber as the Vice Chairperson of the Northern Region, Peter Ogwang as the Coordinator of Teso, and Haruna Kasolo as the Coordinator of Greater Masaka.
Other members of the team include Twalla Fadil as the Coordinator of Sebei, Shadrack Nzeire as the Coordinator of Ankole, Judith Mukidi as the Women Representative of Toro, Sarah Kiyimba as the Women Representative of Greater Masaka, and Tamale Mirundi as the Deputy Spokesperson of Buganda.
On February 7, 2024, PLU, formerly known as the MK Movement, was officially launched in Naguru, Kampala.
The event witnessed a massive turnout of supporters, including legislators, ministers, academics, and members of the business community.
The primary objective of this league is to rekindle a sense of good citizenship, national pride, and national service among Ugandans.
Additionally, it aims to combat corruption, prevent the wastage of public resources, protect vulnerable individuals, and preserve the environment.
The league members have pledged to actively engage in mobilizing fellow Ugandans to fulfill their civic responsibilities, mentioned earlier, for the betterment of society as a whole.
Furthermore, they are determined to safeguard the unique natural and social harmony that defines Uganda.
