Amudat
The Joint Security Task Force is conducting a search for the unidentified assailants responsible for the fatal shooting of four individuals in the Amudat district, located in the Karamoja sub-region of Eastern Uganda.
In response to this tragic incident, the Amudat Central Police Station and the territorial police in the Mt. Moroto region has initiated a collaborative investigation.
The victims, who were all residents of Mbale City, were traveling in a grey Toyota Harrier bearing the license plate UBP 601Q.
Fred Enanga, a spokesperson for the Uganda Police Force, said the incident took place on February 4, 2024, at approximately 3:30pm, along the Amudat-Katabok road in Ankukunyo village, Amudat parish.
The deceased individuals were identified as Umaru Binyota, a 34-year-old businessman from Namusi-Mbale; Umaru Watime, a 40-year-old resident of Nakaloke zone 3; Aramathan Boy, a 25-year-old resident of Namusi-Mbale; and Abasi Mubajje, a 23-year-old resident of Namusi.
Enanga told the East African Gazette that the bodies of Binyota, Aramanthan, and Abasi were discovered outside the vehicle.
Each body exhibited multiple bullet wounds on various parts including the head, face, legs, hands, back, and chest.
He further stated that a single projectile was recovered from the car, while six cartridges were found inside the vehicle and seven cartridges were found outside, making a total of 13.
Despite deploying a K9 unit, the scent was lost after covering a distance of approximately 1km.
Additionally, five mobile phones (two smartphones and three Itel small phones) were recovered from the crime scene, along with documents indicating cash calculations.
Enanga emphasized that the Joint Security Task Team has been assigned the responsibility of promptly identifying, apprehending, and bringing to justice the individuals responsible for this brutal murder.
