The Uganda Joint Security Taskforce is currently detaining a suspected agent of the Allied Democratic Forces (ADF).
Ishak Sekayiba was apprehended at the Ugandan-Tanzanian border in Mutukula, located in Rakai district.
During a press briefing at the police headquarters in Naguru, Nakawa Division, the police spokesperson, Fred Enanga, revealed that the suspect had been under close surveillance for several months, with security personnel carefully monitoring his movements.
He emphasized that the border security had thoroughly profiled him and had been vigilant in tracking his activities.
Notably, the suspect had been observed crossing the border multiple times in a Toyota Noah vehicle with South African number plates.
This raised concerns among the security personnel, as he had frequently traveled to South Africa and other countries before returning.
Upon his arrest, the suspect was found in possession of electric wires and security lamps.
It is worth mentioning that the Uganda Peoples Defense Forces (UPDF), in collaboration with their counterparts in the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC), recently launched “Operation Shuuja” in the eastern part of the DRC.
The objective of this operation is to eliminate ADF terror suspects from their hideouts.
This operation was initiated following twin bombings near the Uganda Parliament and Kampala Central Police Station in Kampala.
Since its commencement in November 2022, numerous camps have been dismantled, and several suspects have been apprehended.
