The Tanzania Police Force has been urged to establish and maintain a positive relationship with the community if they are to effectively combat crime in the country.
Deo Sanga Maruf Joh People, the Member of Parliament for Makambako State, emphasized the importance of continued collaboration between the police and the citizens through various activities.
He stressed that this collaboration will not only foster good relations but also enable the police to gather accurate information, particularly regarding criminals in different communities.

Sanga further highlighted that while security organs have the responsibility of safeguarding people and their property, the community must recognize that security begins with them in their own neighborhoods, as they are better positioned to detect and prevent crime.
He emphasized the need for residents to be familiar with their neighbors to avoid any potential threats and to actively participate in the fight against crime.
He made the remarks on January 28, 2024, during a ceremony held at the Orphanage Centre in Ilunda Mtwango, Makambako district, Tanzania, to bid farewell to four retiring senior police officers and welcoming new ones.
He commended the outgoing officers for their exemplary service and urged the citizens to support them upon their return to their respective communities.

Additionally, he encouraged the community to extend their cooperation to the newly appointed officers who have joined the Makambo region.
The event commenced with the police officers donating essential items, including food, to the needy.
To ensure effective service delivery and establish positive connections with the people, Senior Superintendent of Police Omar M. Diwani, the Police Chief of Makambako District, expressed the commitment of the police force.
As part of their efforts, a sports bonanza was arranged between the police and citizens.

This initiative aimed to enhance the relationship between the police and the community, recognizing the significant role of sports in promoting good health and combating non-communicable diseases
The area Councillor emphasized the needs of the people of Makambako to first build a desk building for gender and children in order to resolve marital disputes which can create a big challenge for children to fail to get their basic rights after their parents fail to live together.
