The Black Stars of Ghana, the football giants, had their opportunity shattered unexpectedly as they finished third in Group B of the African Cup of Nations (AFCON).
Despite leading with two goals in a fiercely contested match, Ghana’s victory slipped away when Mozambique equalized in the second half.
Mozambique nearly lost hope after Ghana scored another goal making it 2:0.
But hopes were revived when Ghana’s Andre Ayew of Ghana accidentally handled the ball inside the box, resulting in a penalty for Mozambique.
This penalty brought the score to 1-2 in favor of Ghana.
However, Mozambique managed to score another equalizer. As a result, Ghana will now be settling to be among the top four third-placed teams.
Confirmation of their exit from the tournament will depend on the match between Gambia and Cameroon on January 23, 2024.
