The farmer Tanzania envoy to Brazil and Egypt Dr Emmanuel Nchimbi has been appointed as the Secretary General of the Ruling Party Chama Cha Mapinduzi (CCM). He now replaces Daniel Chongolo who resigned
The request was endorsed by the Party National Executive Council (NEC) during its meeting at State House held at Mogogoni State House on November 30 2023 last year.
Addressing the media after the NEC meeting held in Unguja today Monday 15,2024, Paul Mukonda, the CCM secretary for ideology, Publicity and training, said Nchimbi”s name was proposed by central Committee (CC)

During the meeting Chaired by the Party Chairperson, President Samia Suluhu Haasan, Members unanimously approved Dr Emmanuel Nchimbi “s Name and was appointed as party secretary General.
The NEC also congratulated Dr Samia Suluhu Hassani and the President of Zanzibar Dr Hussain Ali Mwinyi for the good job in implementing the Party Manifesto
The three days conference that started on January 13 and ended today 15,2024 attracting hundreds of party delegates across the Country
In the Seminar, the members were enlightened on the implementation of strategic projects where many agreed and satisfied with the progress of their implementation, those projects include, the Julius Nyerere Power Dam Project (JHPP) and plans to improve the electricity situation in the country, Standard Gauge Railway (SGR) Project and the Construction of John Pombe Magufuli bridge (Kigongo – Busisi).

Others were the Implementation of the CCM Manifesto, on the part of the Revolutionary Government of Zanzibar (SMZ) and State of Public Organizations in the Country and the Reforms Needed.
Members also gave a green light for the Preparation for the Local Government Elections, Villages and Townships in 2024 and Preparations for CCM’s 47th Birthday Celebrations.
Who is Dr Emmanuel Nchimbi
Dr. Emmanuel Nchimbi was born on December 24, 1971 in Mbeya region, his primary education began in Dar es Salaam at Oysterbay Primary School between 1980-1986.
His father, Elder John Nchimbi from Songea district is a retired police officer and when he retired, he was Assistant Police Commissioner (ACP) and Regional Police Commander of Mtwara.

Mzee Nchimbi has also been a member of the Central Committee of CCM (NEC) for two periods through the army group and later the regional secretary of CCM, he stopped participating in political issues when the multi-party system was established.
Dr. Nchimbi joined secondary education at Uru Secondary School between 1987 – 1989 (form I – III) and then moved to Sangu Secondary School and completed form four in 1989 – 1990.
He went to Forest Hill Secondary School, Mbeya in form V and VI in 1991 – 1993 and later joined IDM College Mzumbe (Morogoro) and graduated with an Advanced Diploma in Administration (1994 – 1997).
While at IDM, he was elected as a Member of the Central Committee of CCM (NEC) and the following year (1998), he was elected as the Chairman of the Youth Union of Chama cha Mapinduzi (UVCCM).
Dr. Nchimbi has been employed by the National Environmental Management Council (NEMC) between 1998-2003.
He studied a master’s degree in business management at the University of Mzumbe in 2001-2003, specializing in the areas of (banking and finance).

He was appointed Head of Bunda District (2003 – 2005) and (2008 – 2011) studied and successfully completed a PhD at the University of Mzumbe.
Dr. Nchimbi is married to Jane and they have three children.
Parliamentary race
Dr. Nchimbi returned to his home (Songea Mjini) to start his parliamentary campaign since he was leading the UVCCM. When he was elected in 2005, he entered the election contest and met Edson Mbogoro of Chadema who was his main opponent. Dr. Nchimbi was helped by the large CCM network and won with 67.6 percent against Mbogoro’s 30.5 percent.
Immediately after becoming an MP, President Kikwete appointed him as Deputy Minister of Information, Culture and Sports, this was in January 2006, he remained in that ministry until October 2006 when he was transferred to the Ministry of Labour, Employment and Youth – here he was also Deputy Minister since October 2006 until February 2008 then the Ministry of Defense and Nation Building where he was also Deputy Minister until November 2010.

In the 2010 General Election, Dr. Nchimbi once again ventured into the Songea Urban Constituency. The 2010 campaigns deprived him of sleep as his party had taken more than 90 percent of the villages, townships and streets in 2009.
As usual, he fought again with Chadema’s Mbogoro and defeated him for the second time, although this time Dr. Nchimbi lost about 10 percent victory compared to 2005. In that election, he got 59.9 percent against Mbogoro’s 37.48.

Nchimbi’s promotion continued, President Kikwete gave him the Ministry of Information, Culture and Sports as full Minister, he remained there until May 2012 when he was transferred to the Ministry of Internal Affairs before resigning in December 2013.
He served as Tanzania envoy to Brazil in 2016 -2012 and Egypt Cairo between 2022 to 2023
