The new leader of opposition in Parliament Joel Ssenyonyi has vowed to continue to push the demands by the opposition related to human rights abuse in Uganda.
Ssenyonyi will hold a meeting with the chairperson of the Uganda Human Rights Commission to understand why the matter has taken a complicated direction.MP Parliament Mathias Mpuuga ceremoniously handed over the office of the leader of opposition to Joel Ssenyonyi at Parliamentary Building Kampala.

Speaker Anita Among officially tabled the leadership changes, marking the transition from the National Unity Platform (NUP), where Mpuuga served with distinction, to the new leadership under Joel Ssenyonyi.
The Speaker Anita Among urged the importance of intellectual debate and advised Ssenyonyi to foster constant consultations between the government and opposition for the benefit of parliamentary proceedings.
Among those said will work collaboratively with anyone in the opposition, setting a tone of unity within the parliamentary setting.
“I applaud Mpuuga for the good work he has exhibited, and I am mandated to work with anyone in the opposition,” Among said.

Mpuuga tasked Ssenyonyi to build immunity against people who are determined to back him. Mpuuga said he will support Ssenyonyi to begin from where he stopped in fighting for Human rights.
Ssenyonyi, reaffirmed his commitment to operate within Rule 14 of the Parliamentary Rules of Procedure.
He emphasized the importance of holding the government accountable and addressing the rising levels of corruption in the country.
“I am committed to work within the rules and will focus on holding the government accountable to reduce increasing corruption levels in the country,” Ssenyonyi said.
He said the transition marks a significant moment in parliamentary leadership, with the outgoing leader receiving accolades for his exemplary service, and expressed determination to continue the fighting for accountability and transparency

Baker Ssejjengo the chairperson of Buganda Youth Council has congratulated the outgoing leader of Opposition Mpuuga for raising the bar high which is a good start for the incoming leader of Opposition Ssenyonyi.
Ssejjengo urged the opposition leaders to build leadership which brings other members of Parliament to have a common goal.

He congratulated Ssenyonyi for being elevated to a high office at a young age and said they have hopes in him to come with new ideas especially from the youths.
