The Uganda Peoples Defense Forces (UPDF) has registered another successful operation after making a brutal attack on the Allied Democratic Forces (ADF) camp in the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC).
In a statement issued by the President of Uganda Rtd Gen Yoweri Museveni on October 21, 2023, the camp was 60kms from Uganda’s border in Ntoroko.
“Fellow Ugandans, especially the Bazzukulu.
This is to inform you that today, the 21st of October 2023, we paid a serious visit to the ADF terrorists in Congo. Our gunships attacked a big camp of these criminals, 60kms from the border, Ntoroko side,” he noted via his X account formerly twitter.
He explained that the attack was devastating because it was a clear target and the reconnaissance plane was monitoring from the air.
“Congratulations to our Air-Force and the SDR that locates these criminals,” he added.
He noted that even the group of five people that burnt the lorry, the tourist van and killed the two tourists with their driver are being hunted in the area to the left of Bweera- Kikoroongo Road from Bweera.
He urged the UPDF to involve the Police and the Wanainchi to hunt for “these groups, running from Congo”.
“They are no longer a military problem. They are; Police, popular vigilance and anti-terrorism efforts. We are destroying their base in Congo,” the president noted.
He further saluted his counterpart the President of DRC Tshisekedi for agreeing to work with Ugandan forces to uproot the criminals.
