The government is to distribute tractors in the Karamoja sub region, as part of its effort to address the problem of food shortage in the area.
President Yoweri Museveni said after a meeting with the leaders from the sub region in Kaweweta, the government resolved to provide tractors in the area.
This according to the president will help to grow enough food collectively but also help them do it individually.

“I spent the afternoon in Kaweweta talking to leaders from the Karamoja sub-region. I advised them to go back and have more discussions so we meet again to come up with a consolidated package of wealth creation and poverty alleviation for the people of Karamoja,” he noted.
“Karamoja lacks food and water. We have therefore agreed with the leaders that the government brings tractors in that area to make sure they grow enough food collectively but also help them do it individually,” added.
The president stressed in his X (formerly twitter) account that the government is to build dams to trap more water in order to solve the water shortage.
“After dealing with food and water, we move to another phase where households can earn money quickly and that becomes our strategy,” he added.
