KASSANDA: Peace Kyarimpa, 25, a resident of Buyonga zone in Kiganda town council, Kassanda district, took her baby to Kiganda Health Centre IV for immunization.
Later, while she wanted to buy food, she entrusted the baby to a woman she recognized by face and asked for help.
However, when she got back, she discovered that the woman and her one-month-old Shivan Nantadde were gone.
The incident happened on October 16, 2023, at approximately 5:00 pm.
Rachael Kawala, the Wamala policing area public relations officer, said Kyarimpa’s search around the health facility premises were to no avail.
“She reported the disappearance to the health facility management, who contacted the police. The crime scene has been thoroughly examined, and relevant statements have been recorded to aid in the ongoing investigation. Police are engaged in efforts to recover the baby and arrest the suspect,” she noted.
Kawala said the Police in Kassanda are already investigating a case of disappearance and child abduction.
She urged parents to exercise utmost caution and refrain from leaving their children in the care of strangers.
