KAMPALA
The Ugandan Minister of Works and Transport Gen.Katumba Wamala has said the government should consider partnering with NAFFCO Group based in UAE for its high quality firefighting equipment which can be used to fight the ever escalating cases of fire outbreaks leading to gross loss of both lives and property which incident directly hurts the economy.
Gen Wamala made the remarks yesterday while officially opening a two day high level training seminar which attracted senior fire and safety officers drawn from government ministries, departments and agencies.
The training that was under the theme of ‘Build a foundation for fire and safety’, exposed the officers to the new global fire and safety standards and the use of sector policy planning programs.

He commanded the Madvani group for sponsoring the seminar and bringing NAFFCO technical experts of fire and safety to Uganda saying the training was very strategic and timely given that the country was losing many lives from the avoidable fire outbreaks especially the schools which have a big problem to the government.
‘As government we would like to appreciate Madvani group for sponsoring this very important training seminar which has come at a time when many cases of arson attacks on schools and other infrastructure was on the rise ‘’said Wamala
Wamala noted that, they will lobby government to see that it opens up new communication channels with NAFFCO Group such that the country can acquire their high sophisticate fire and safety equipment.
Raphael Torres, the Officials from NAFFCO presented different Methodology of safety climate, defining and exploring safety,,
George Anu, also trained delegates on NFPA codes and installation of stationery pumps for fire safety, while Imad Hishmeh resented a report on Smoke control engineering NFPA 92/204.
Radwan Halabi discussed fire trucks and ambulances among others key presentations new emerging technologies in the field of fire and safety.
Halab urged the government to consider partnering with them in order to test the new technology in fire safety and the new fire prevention systems and appliances as a deliberate strategy of reducing the burden of fires.
