The highly anticipated showdown between the iconic heavyweight boxer Mike Tyson and Jake Paul has been put on hold indefinitely due to Tyson’s unexpected health issue.
The 57-year-old, Tyson is said to have become ill during a flight last weekend.
The fight was scheduled to take place on July 20, 2024 in Arlington, Texas.
Tyson reportedly encountered feelings of nausea and dizziness as his flight from Miami to Los Angeles neared its conclusion, leading to the involvement of first responders upon arrival.

Tyson’s team claimed that the incident was a result of an ulcer problem. Nevertheless, they acknowledged that the fighter was in decent condition, although not sufficiently fit to commence his intensive training.
In a statement, the promoters of the fight conveyed that during a follow-up consultation on May30, 2024, medical professionals advised Mike Tyson, to engage in minimal to light training for the upcoming weeks.

Subsequently, he can resume full training without any restrictions.
Tyson’s last professional fight was in June 2005, but has never stopped training since. He participated in an engaging exhibition match against Roy Jones Jr. in Los Angeles in November 2020.
In statement, Tyson stated that his body is in better overall shape that it has been since 1990s.
“I will be back to my full training schedule soon. Jake Paul, this may have bought you some time, but in the end, you will still be knocked out and out of boxing for good. I appreciate everyone’s patience and can’t wait to deliver an unforgettable performance later this year,” he said.
The Texas boxing authorities approved Tyson’s match against Paul as an official fight consisting of eight 2-minute rounds and using heavier gloves than usual.
Tyson will celebrate his 58th this year.
