Who are the BLUE 3?
Blu 3, a Ugandan female music trio, was established in April 2004 following their victory on the TV show Coca Cola Popstars.
The original members consisted of Jackie Chandiru, Lilian Mbabazi, and Cinderella Sanyu.
They released two albums “Hitaji” (2004) and “Burn” (2007) after winning the Coca Cola contest.

The Hitaji album featured popular tracks such as “Hitaji”, “Frisky”, and “Tomalako”.
Their Hitaji album launch at Lugogo Cricket Stadium in December 2004 drew a massive crowd.
The music video for “Hitaji” also received the Pearl of Africa Music (PAM) Award for Video of the Year.
The group began to disband when Cindy Sanyu departed to pursue other ventures, and Mya Baganda took her place.
In 2006, the trio reunited in the studio to produce the album Burn.
The title track included a collaboration with Daniel Lubwama Kigozi, also known as Navio from the disbanded Klear Kut hip hop group.
Among the hits on the Burn album were songs written by Sylver Kyagulanyi such as “Nsanyuka Nawe”, “Ndibeera Nawe”, and “Nkoye”.
The music video for the title track “Burn” also won the Video of the Year award at the 2006 PAM Awards.
Blu 3 received nominations for Kora Awards, Channel O Music Video Awards, and won two Kisima Awards, among others.
During their peak, the group embarked on tours to various countries including Kenya, Rwanda, Tanzania, South Africa, Ghana, Nigeria, UK, and Ethiopia.
