KampalaThe Uganda Peoples Defense Forces (UPDF) Engineering Brigade has received commendation from the First Lady and Minister of Education and Sports, Janet Museveni, for their outstanding works on the Mandela National Stadium, commonly known as Namboole
She made the remarks, after touring Namboole and Nakivubo War Memorial stadiums on February 20, 2024, stating that they had done a remarkable job.
She emphasized the importance of self-reliance for African countries. The First Lady highlighted that the world-class stadiums not only bring pride to Uganda but also attract neighboring countries like Rwanda to utilize the facilities

During her visit, she also praised the work being done by young Ugandans on the construction of Nakivubo.
The completion of Namboole still requires additional funding of shs17.7b, and the Minister of Education was requested to follow up on the approved funds.

The Namboole Sports Facilities Development Masterplan is currently at 84% complete, with the official opening scheduled for June 1, 2024.
